Patent Attorney/Domestic Department Manager
Shoji Yokoyama holds a master’s degree in engineering and began his professional career at a construction company, where he gained practical experience in civil engineering before entering the intellectual property profession.
With more than two decades of experience as a patent attorney, Shoji has supported clients across a wide range of industries, from construction and measurement technologies to software and business model innovations. His broad technical background and hands-on understanding of industrial practices enable him to provide clear, practical, and strategically grounded intellectual property advice. He has handled patent searches, applications, examinations, appeals, litigation, expert opinions, and has also served as a lecturer for numerous intellectual property training programs.
Shoji serves on the Employee Invention Committee at SHOWA Medical University. His contributions include academic presentations—such as four papers submitted to the Annual Conference of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers—and published work including Foundations Rooted in the Earth (1994). He has also been invited to speak at various seminars organized by national agencies, universities, and corporate clients on patents and intellectual property management.
We proudly note that Shoji has been recognized as a recommended individual in the IAM Patent 1000 (2025), reflecting his longstanding dedication to high-quality prosecution work and the trust he has earned from clients.
Outside the office, he enjoys traveling both within Japan and abroad with his camera to capture moments that inspire him.
