Extension of the PPH Program between Japan and Thailand

The Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) pilot program implemented between the Japan Patent Office (JPO) and the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) of the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand has been extended for an additional two years, effective from January 1, 2026.

In addition, from the same date, a new initiative has been launched under which key points of the examination conducted by the Japan Patent Office will be provided to the Thai Department of Intellectual Property. This initiative is expected to further accelerate patent examination in Thailand.

The new pilot period is scheduled to end on December 31, 2027, and may be extended further if necessary.
